You don't feel like skiing?

7 ingredients for a perfect winter day off the beaten ski slope

„Because skiing is 'das leiwandste' [greatest thing] that you can only imagine ...“ sings Wolfgang Ambros, Austrian singer-songwriter. But not everyone is so convinced about it.
In Hoch-Imst there are myriad offers for tantalizing winter pleasures off the groomed slopes.

1

Tobogganing

In the surroundings of the Hoch-Imst ski area there are two superb tobogganing opportunities, including a well-deserved rest stop for a bite to eat: leisurely winter fans can conveniently buy a mountain lift ticket up to the middle station of Imster Bergbahnen. A couple of jovial hut hours at Untermarkter Alm are followed by an exciting downhill adventure towards the valley on a 4 km long natural toboggan run - quality sealed by Tirol's Tobogganing Association. Those who prefer a blend of sporty activity and nature exploration, can continue on foot from Untermarkter Alm straight up to Latschenhütte for another 30 walking minutes. From here the scenic Obermarkter Alm natural toboggan run winds its way down to the valley on about 6 km. Every Wednesday and Saturday, Imster Bergbahnen invite you
join a tobogganing night with floodlights (6:30 pm - 9:30 pm)!

2

Alpine Coaster Imst

Also in the cold season the Alps' longest roller coaster world-wide causes a sensation. „Think big and fast“ is the motto of all coaster pilots on the 3.5 kilometer long track covering 500 altitude meters. The rails meander through snow-covered landscapes and forests all in white down to the valley floor - at up to ten meters above the ground. After nine thrilling minutes the adventurous ride takes you
to the base station of the Hoch-Imst ski area.

3

Snowshoeing or winter hiking

Crunching snow under your feet, a winter wonderland in white. Enjoy the cold season on foot, which is a particularly memorable experience. In the surroundings of Imster Bergbahnen there are varied routes which are perfectly signposted especially for (snowshoe) hikers. Not an insider tip any more but an excellent example: in about 45 minutes you can conquer the Nuireithrunde loop or hike from Hoch-Imst on almost flat terrain towards Linserhöfe and back again (walking time: approx. 2 hours).

Ski tours

Leisurely ascents followed by fast downhill adventures are the ideal mix for lovers of the trend sports number one. Hoch-Imst boasts easy beginners' routes and challenging variants for all preferences and skill levels. Besides the popular ascent to Untermarkter Alm (recommended also to night owls) via Ursprungweg trail, there are many fabulous routes, for example from Hoch-Imst via Opferstock to Latschenhütte.
Scenic Muttekopf peak (2,774 m) is Imst's landmark and promises „wow“ panorama views and a challenging route.
For all tours it is absolutely required to check the current snow and avalanche report in advance.

5

Ice skating

Pirouettes of cute ice princesses and tomorrow's upcoming hockey cracks can explore a small, very fine offer in Hoch-Imst. Young and old floating with more or less speed over the smooth parquet right behind the parking area of the ski region. Nestling on a small forest clearing, the magnificent ice skating rink attracts visitors from near and far thanks to prime conditions, floodlights in the evening until 9 pm (daily)
- and free admission!

6

Cross-country skiing

The traditional activity from the far North causes a sensation in Hoch-Imst. „Gliding instead of rushing“ is the ultimate slogan either
on the 2.5 km Hoch-Imst Nordic trail or on the more challenging Teilwiesen cross-country track covering 6 km.
The athletes on narrow Nordic skis appreciate it: although the cross-country ski routes are no longer a secret tip they provide
a snow-sure playground for classic-style and skating specialists.

Enjoyment at SunOrama

Why not just relax, wind down and do absolutely nothing? Sun worshippers and those in search of ultimate relaxation are strongly recommended to visit the SunOrama next to the Alpjoch top station at 2,050 meters above sea level. Choose between comfortable seating areas and cozy chairs but always enjoy the awesome view of Imst, Gurgltal valley and the snow-covered mountain slopes in the surroundings. Or simply lean back and watch the hustle and bustle of winter sportspeople on the slopes.
