Speed hiking is an athletic form of hiking. It is not about breaking records, but about fitness: speed hikers individually set their own pace.

The first of its kind in Austria: Swiftly uphill with light luggage. Appropriate shoes and poles can be helpful. The joint-friendly downhill variant means taking the new gondola lift or a downhill race on the world’s longest alpine roller coaster. The route leads from the centre past Hoch-Imst to the Alpjoch mountain station at an altitude of 2.050m.

With speed hiking you conquer the mountain world of Hoch-Imst on foot - at your own pace, but as fast as possible. As with trail running, it's best to avoid heavy luggage.
