160 loops per season

Cross-country skiing in Hoch Imst

Cross-country skiers will find their private paradise in Hoch-Imst. Roman Gabl knows these trails
like the back of his hand.

From December through March the passionate cross-country skier enjoys his Nordic skiing loops in Hoch-Imst. "I'm here at least once a week for about seven or eight loops on the scenic track," explains the athlete from Imst enthusiastically. Therefore he circles the two-kilometer long route up to 160 times per season.

Above all, the sprightly pensioner appreciates the varied course. "This Nordic trail really offers everything you need and it's not too difficult. One section leads through the forest. Beginners love the varied terrain as it is an ideal training ground. Further on you proceed on the sunny part of the track along Neureit meadow." Thanks to snowmaking systems the track offers prime conditions all winter long and is suitable for both skating and classic style cross-country skiing aficionados.

"I very much enjoy the offer in Hoch-Imst as it's almost on my doorstep. So I can also go Nordic skiing spontaneously in the afternoon to let off steam for an hour or even more. I have been here already for decades and I also organized a nighttime cross-country skiing competition for 30 years," says the sprightly 68-year-old sportsman. He hopes that Nordic sports will become more popular again in the future. "Cross-country skiing is a full-body training and helps keeping you fit and healthy," Roman Gabl is convinced.

In his opinion, the overall sports offer in Hoch-Imst is quite impressive: "Both guests and locals can use the ice skating rink, the ski slope and the Nordic ski trail. And all this so close to the city," Roman Gabl concludes.
